Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig

Irish Food: Slow & TraditionalAh, St Patrick's Day. There's very little I can say about this Irish holiday without descending to cliché but, one of the great things about being back in Ireland is that we get a day off work. If you're not busy drowning the shamrock and having a feed of Guinness in some 'Orish' pub around the world (or maybe even if you are!), a big pot of Ham and Pea Soup and a couple of loaves of Irish Brown Soda Bread are as good a way of celebrating as any.

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patricks Caroline!
We have a comforting night at home with 'Champ' and 'Corned Beef' planned and then some Baileys coffee and maybe a Apple and Blackberry Crumble, and to top it all a showing of "Waking Ned Devine" on DVD :-)
Enjoy your day off!

Hope you enjoyed your Irish comfort meal in NZ, Bron! Ours was a little less traditional - I'm not sure brunch had been invented in St Patrick's time, and there was little chance that he ever had Buttermilk Pancakes with bacon and maple syrup or Chocolate Orange Muffins. Still, at least we had the very Irish Bacon and Cabbage for dinner down home - my mother was making the effort!
